I have used Information Steward to implement the rules around Master data lifecycle management that identify the accounts that have not been active and hence can be closed. The example of rules are listed below
– No open items on customer account for previous 36 months
– No sales orders in past 12 months
– No financial posting on customer account in past 36 months
– Customer has not been created in past 12 months
Note that the way rules are implemented is that 'age' thresholds are built into the rule and rules fail whenever 'Active Customer' criteria fails. That way all the accounts that have been 'inactive' appear in your exception report (Failed Data) so that you can go through them and close them as appropriate.
